National Holiday of Quebec

Saint-Jean Baptiste sur les plaines d’Abraham de Québec

The Saint-Jean Baptiste on Quebec’s Plains of Abraham, the national holiday of Quebecers, is held every year on June 23 with several French-singing artists.

Since the time of the great René Lévesque, the Quebec’s national day named St-Jean Baptiste has made Quebecers vibrate every year on June 24! It is through his involvement and dedication to the people of Quebec that this emblem of Quebec policy has named this event “The Day of Quebecers” and made it a day without work. It was officially in 1978 that the organizing committee of the national holiday of Quebec was created, organizing shows, activities, animations and a huge bonfire for the great occasion!

Although this festival is always considered to be the festival of French Canadians, the party of Saint John Baptiste is an event affecting all Quebecers with a festive heart. The biggest event of this festival is June 23 in the national capital, on the plains of Abraham of the marvelous city of Quebec. This event brings together more than 80,000 people every year who attend high quality outdoor performances and who, through their presence, feel the fraternity that binds Quebecers to their homeland!

This year, many well known artists will be performing on the Plains of Abraham, such as Sarahmée, Ariane Moffatt, Pierre Lapointe, LOUD, Coeur de Pirate, Yann Perreau, Alex Nevsky, Marc Dupré, Brigitte Boisjoli, Damien Robitaille, France d’Amour, Ludovik Bourgeois, Martine St-Claire, Pierre-Yves Lord, Le Vent du Nord, Serge Fiori, Geneviève Jodoin with this year’s event host Debbie Lynch-White.
