The Hip Hop/Rap evening of the Quebec City Summer Festival will be closed this year by none other than Ice Cube, a real Rap legend.

It’s going to groove on the plains on the evening of July 9! At 7pm, the evening will start with Belly, a Palestinian origin rapper who is currently drilling the Toronto Hip Hop scene with oriental sounds. Beign taken under the wings of The Weeknd, it will then be a unique chance to discover Belly which will apparently rise in popularity sooner than later! Then it will be the Mississippian duo Rae Sremmurd at 7:40pm that will make us vibrate to the new sound of Southern US Hip-Hop. It is then Fetty Wap that will continue from 8:45pm.

This rapper from New Jersey was known in 2015 with a first album which was an immediate commercial success and, subsequently, was recognized by his peers as Kanye West, Jay-Z and Beyoncé. Finally, the climax of the evening will be felt from 10pm with the arrival on stage of Ice Cube on the Plains of Abraham!

Now better known as an actor, Ice Cube has an important musical career of over 30 years. It is one of the Gangsta-Rap precursors in the late 80s with his group N.W.A. along with the famous Dr. Dre and Eazy-E, MC Ren, DJ Yella and Arabian Prince. And then with a solo career that began in 1989 and lasted since this day. The N.W.A film – Straight Outta Compton traces the tumultuous history of this cult band of the Rap movement. During his solo career, Ice Cube released 10 studio albums to date. The last one, Everythang’s Corrupt, was released in 2012. His most popular songs are, among others, “It Was a Good Day”, “No Vaseline” “Gangsta Rap Made me Do It”, “You Know How We Do It,” “Smoke Some weed”, “Hello”, “Check Yo Self”, “Why We Thugs”, “Go to Church” in collaboration with Snoop Dogg and Lil Jon, “Once Upon a time in the Projects” and “you Can Do it” that we have heard in the popular movie Save the last Dance with Julia Stiles and Sean Patrick Thomas who was one first films highlighting Hip Hop dance. Proud representative of the West Coast, his style has evolved through the time and even today he is still very active on the music scene, while his film career as an actor, screenwriter, director and producer takes over more and more space.

O’shea Jackson of his real name, Ice Cube was recognized as one of the best MC and one of the best lyricists of all time. Therefore, let’s enjoy the rare visit to Quebec City of Ice Cube at the Quebec Summer Festival on July 9th!
