The Quebec City’s Videotron Center has announced a news that will please many: The charismatic singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran will be in Quebec City on July 18th. This concert will mark the first time, and hopefully not the last, that the friendly red-haired native of Yorkshire in the north of England will perform in The Old Capital. Another really popular English artist, James Blunt, will perform as Sheeran’s first act for this concert.
Although he started his career in 2004 at the age of only 15, with the launch of his first album Spinning Man under an independent label, it is really in 2011 with + (Plus) that Sheeran pierces the international market. The song The A team is the success that brings him to the top of the charts with more than 800,000 downloads for the year 2011 only. This is the beginning of a great career for the young Sheeran after several years wandering the scenes of the shabbiest bars in England, which will lead him to the biggest stadiums and the most prestigious venues around the world, including three sold-out concerts at the Wembley Stadium in London.
His last album ÷ (Divide), released in early 2017 and containing the successes Shape of you and Castle on the hill, will certainly be at the heart of the show, but do not worry, he is not the type to snob the titles that elevated him to his status as an international superstar. He will not fail to play his “classics” (yes, they are already classics) to the delight of his many fans.
